I don't know why baby books have a spot for a single date of when your child takes his or her first steps. It seems to be more of an evolution of skill rather than a miraculous moment, at least in our house anyway. Nicholas has been playing around with walking for awhile now. He took 2 steps between Mom and Dad on July 23rd, but then we didn't see anything for a couple weeks. This past Thursday (August 5th) he took 7 steps in a row when he wasn't paying any attention. Friday and Saturday were a couple more attempts, again when he was distracted by something in his hands. However, yesterday (Sunday, 8/8) seemed to be a turning point for him, and luckily both Mom and Dad were home to see it! He took 19 steps in a row to cross our bedroom, and now tries walking just about every time he stands up. Of course the video camera wasn't rolling for his "long" walk, but below is a clip of him showing off his new skills. I do think crawling is still the preferred and more efficient mode of transportation, but now he seems to get excited by moving in an upright position. Way to go, little guy!Monday, August 9, 2010
Watch Out World...I'm Walking!
