I have to admit that I was dreading this day - another year in which I am reminded of my lack of motherhood. I am grateful that our church does not make a huge deal about Mother's Day and our pastor always includes "women who nurture" in his list of mothering types we should be thankful for. In the end, the day wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Yes, I am bummed that our journey to parenthood has taken so much longer than we had ever imagined, but I am also content knowing that we are getting closer and closer to that day when we can call ourselves Mom and Dad because...
(drum roll, please)
...our Adam Walsh Studies cleared!!!
We found out on Friday from MN DHS that they actually cleared on Thursday, but there's a slight delay between the official stamp of approval and our agency finding out. Long story short, we should be in the Korea Program and on their waiting list as of 5/7/09.
So now we start the official wait and are free to really start preparing ourselves for parenthood. We looked at cribs on Friday and think we have a few favorites, but are waiting for inspiration on a theme or decoration style for the nursery. We have read a few resources that recommend other things to do during the wait including preparing a will, finishing all those house projects we haven't started yet, and weightlifting so that we are not shocked by the amount of strength and energy needed to carry a 10-12 month old! It should be a fun 6-9 months!
We wish all of those moms who are reading this a Happy Mother's Day. For all those wanting to become moms, we wish for you peace on your journey. No matter how dark the road gets, we hope that one day soon you too can be complaining of sleepless nights and temper tantrums. For all the other people reading this (including the boys out there), we thank you for all that you have done in your lives to nuture others. We hope you all have a wonderful day!
